Job Description
The Facility Manager will be responsible for the management and oversight of building infrastructure, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other systems. The role includes developing and implementing maintenance schedules, supervising service providers, handling tenant issues, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The manager will also be tasked with budgeting, reporting, coordinating space management, and ensuring facilities are secure and optimally utilized. In addition to managing Mshel’s real estate facilities, the successful candidate will lead the Mshel Facility Management unit.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Oversee maintenance and repair of building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc.)
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards
Develop and implement preventive maintenance plans
Supervise on-site staff, vendors, and contractors
Manage facility budgets, costs, and resource allocation
Handle tenant issues and emergency facility situations
Monitor and optimize space utilization
Maintain and manage security systems and protocols
Prepare regular reports on operations, budgets, and maintenance activities
Liaise with government agencies, contractors, and external stakeholders
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Facility Management, Engineering, Estate Management, or related field
Master’s degree (MBA/MSc) is an added advantage
Experience:
Minimum of 8 years of experience in facility or property management
Experience in real estate or construction industry preferred
Competencies and Skills:
Strong knowledge of building systems and facility operations
Leadership and team management
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and facility management software
Budgeting, cost control, and project management
Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple sites and prioritize effectively
