Under general supervision of the department manager, the Environmental Services (EVS) Supervisor oversees, facilitates and performs work activities of EVS employees to ensure clean, orderly, and attractive rooms and other areas within the GBMC hospital campus. Assign duties, inspect work, and investigate complaints regarding housekeeping service and equipment and take required actions as needed. May take periodic inventories, screen applicants, train new employees, and recommend dismissals.Education: High school diploma or equivalent education is required. A combination of education and experience will be considered Experience: 2 years of Housekeeping experience is required. Supervisory/leadership experience is strongly preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position will be considered Skills:
Supervision: Supervise and direct the activities of environmental services staff working the night shift, including janitors, cleaners, and housekeeping personnel. Provide guidance, instructions, and support to ensure that cleaning tasks are performed efficiently and effectively.
Staff Scheduling: Develop work schedules, assign tasks, and allocate resources to ensure adequate coverage and support for cleaning operations throughout the facility during night shifts. Coordinate with other supervisors or managers to optimize staffing levels and productivity.
Cleaning Operations: Oversee the cleaning and sanitation of various areas within the facility, including patient rooms, common areas, restrooms, corridors, and administrative offices. Ensure that cleaning protocols and standards are followed to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment.
Quality Assurance: Conduct regular inspections and audits of cleaning activities to assess cleanliness, identify areas for improvement, and ensure compliance with established standards and protocols. Address any deficiencies or issues promptly and implement corrective actions as needed.
Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels of cleaning supplies, equipment, and consumables used during night shift operations. Order replenishments as necessary to ensure uninterrupted cleaning services and optimal resource utilization.
Training and Development: Provide training, orientation, and ongoing education to environmental services staff on cleaning techniques, safety protocols, infection control practices, and regulatory compliance requirements. Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement among team members.
Safety and Compliance: Enforce safety policies and procedures to minimize the risk of accidents, injuries, or exposure to hazardous materials during cleaning operations. Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, environmental regulations, and industry standards.
Customer Service: Maintain open communication channels with facility occupants, patients, visitors, and staff to address their cleaning-related needs, concerns, and feedback. Foster positive relationships and customer satisfaction through responsive and attentive service delivery.
Emergency Response: Coordinate and respond to emergency cleaning requests, spills, accidents, or incidents that occur during night shift operations. Mobilize resources, implement containment measures, and collaborate with other departments to mitigate risks and restore cleanliness promptly.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records, logs, and documentation related to cleaning activities, including work orders, incident reports, inventory records, and performance metrics. Prepare regular reports and updates for management on operational status, achievements, and challenges.
Team Leadership: Lead by example, motivate team members, and promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and professionalism among environmental services staff. Foster a positive work environment that values diversity, respect, and collaboration.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements, workflow optimizations, and cost-saving initiatives within the environmental services department. Implement best practices, innovations, and efficiency measures to enhance service quality and operational effectiveness.

Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills Strong knowledge of and proficiency in all applicable OSHA and related local safety requirements
