About the Organisation
PALM Corps together with Danish Refugee Council (DRC), Dan Church Aid (DCA) are implementing the Uganda Refugee Resilience Initiative (URRI) project. The objective of the URRI programme is to enhance climate resilience for women, men and youth in refugee and host communities and promote inclusive, cohesive and environmentally sustainable development in refugee affected areas. The programme has three outcome areas; 1) Enhanced climate adaptation and resilience for women, men and youth in refugee and host communities through inclusive climate-smart agriculture, 2) Sustainable management of the environment in refugee-affected areas through inclusive interventions leading to enhanced conservation of natural resources, biodiversity, ecosystem services, and productivity, and 3) Enhanced gender equality and women’s empowerment and rights among refugees and host communities in relation to agriculture, climate change adaptation and sustainable management of the environment.

How to Apply
The specific roles include:
Advising management on questions and issues related to gender equity, child protection and disability inclusion.
Coordinate development of relevant policies and procedures for gender, children and disability inclusion.
Promoting and integrating gender analysis and mainstreaming into programing including proposal development and MEAL processes across sectors.
Creating inclusive work environments.
Develop and deliver training programs and workshops to raise awareness and build capacity among staff, volunteers, and stakeholders on disability inclusion, reasonable accommodations, and best practices for interacting with individuals with disabilities. This includes providing resources to keep staff abreast with latest policies and context.
Work closely with technical staff and MEAL to design and implement activities that strengthen young women and men’s access to education finance training, and other resources.
Coordinate with the safeguarding focal point to ensure adherence to safeguarding concerns.
Advocate for the rights and needs of women, men, boys and girls and individuals with disabilities both internally and externally and participate in community outreach efforts to promote inclusion and raise awareness about relevant issues.
Coordinate and build strategic alliances with other gender focused and protection focused partners or key actors to advocate for gender transformative/sensitive programming.
Generate gender briefs, concepts and success stories; lead in documenting successes/failures in gender programming for sharing with stakeholders.
Environment, Climate Change and Resilience (ECCR) is responsible for developing and maintaining high quality in all our work relating to Environment Climate Change and Resilience (ECCR) including agroforestry, SALM, SALM in ASAL, food security and nutrition, biodiversity and eco system services. The ECCR Officer reports to the Country Manager.
Keep your manager updated on opportunities and challenges as well as on the progress of your assignments. Make sure to inform your manager well in advance if you have difficulties meeting your deadlines.
Contribute to development and implementation of risk management plans, workplans and country office budgets.
Offer technical advice to Vi Agroforestry, Partners and Stakeholders on issues related to agroforestry, SALM, SALM in ASAL, food security and nutrition, biodiversity and eco system services.
Ensure our methodologies, policies, guidelines and manuals in place are well known and implemented at the country’s operations.
Support resource mobilization and QA new proposals and reports in relation to ECCR.
QA workplans and reports received from partner organisations.
Be active in advocacy related to above mentioned working areas and support the country office on the same.
Take active part in networks and forums to strengthen our position as an Agroforestry and Climate Change organization, keeping a breast with the development in our core areas.
Support partners to have Capacity in promoting use of Sustainable Energy technologies.
Lead the country office in the establishment of Agroforestry Training centres and oversee the achievement of their objective, i.e. They are established as centres of excellence that provide leadership, best practices, research, support and training on agroforestry, sustainable agriculture land management (SALM), biodiversity conservation, management and governance of natural resources.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
Other Professional Qualifications:
Good knowledge in Microsoft Office365 applications.
Strong networking and advocacy skills
Well versed with application of Do not Harm, Conflict Sensitivity and Human Rights Based Approach, gender Equality.
A minimum of 1 year experience in similar work.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment set priorities and meet deadlines.
