About the Organisation
Buhweju District is located in Western Uganda, bordered by Rubirizi District to the west and northwest, Ibanda District to the northeast, Mbarara District to the east, Sheema District to the southeast, and Bushenyi District to the southwest. Nsiika, the location of the district headquarters, is approximately 50 Km, by road, northwest of Mbarara which is approximately 310 kilometres (190 mi), by road, southwest of Kampala.
Buhweju District was curved out of Bushenyi district in July 2010, thus 2022/23 is her 12th financial year of operation. The District has a land area of 700.6 square kilometers and population of 126,200 with 62,400 females and 60,800 Males with the average house hold size of 5.4, in a total of 15,353 households. Carved out of Bushenyi District in July 2010, Buhweju District has seen a rise in her population from approximately 82,900 (2002 census) to around 126,200 with literacy levels at 64.1% females and 78% male according to a projection by UBOS statistics. The District is found in a hilly environment with farming as the main activity undertaken by the residents .

Job Description
Applications are invited from suitably qualified Ugandans to fill the under listed vacant post that exist in Buhweju District Local Government.
Application forms to be submitted in triplicates on PSF 3 Revised 2008 to the Secretary, Buhweju District Service Commission P. O. Box 10 Kabwohe to be received not later than 22 January, 2024.
Those already in Government Service should route their applications through their responsible officers who should be informed on the closing date to avoid delay. The application forms are obtained from the District Service Commission and Chief Administrative Officers Offices country wide.
Certified Photocopies of all Academic qualifications. National Identify Card, Identify cards of schools and institutions attended, CV, three (3) recent passport size photographs and any other relevant documents deemed necessary must be attached.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Engineering Assistant is responsible for maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment and vehicles in the district.
The job also involves supervising and training junior staff, preparing and submitting reports, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.
Qualifications and Competencies
To qualify for this job, the applicant must have a diploma in mechanical engineering or a related field from a recognized institution, with at least two years of relevant work experience.
The applicant must also have a valid driving license, good communication and interpersonal skills, and basic computer literacy.
The applicant must be willing to work under pressure and in remote areas.
