Job Description
Applications are invited from suitably qualified Ugandans to fill the following vacancy in Yumbe District Local Government. Applications on PSC Form 3 (revised 2008) in triplicate, together with 3 recent coloured passport size photos copies of academic documents (transcripts and Certificates), National Identity Cards, Registration Certificate and other relevant documents should reach the Secretary, District Service Commission Yumbe, P.O. Box 1, Yumbe not later than 5th April 2024 (5:00 pm).
Hand written applications accompanied with curriculum vitae and all the above requirements can also be accepted. PSC Form 3 can be obtained from the Secretary DSC Yumbe, or any nearby District, or Public Service Commission, Kampala.
Duties and Responsibilities
Instructional Support: Assist teachers with implementing lesson plans and instructional activities, including providing one-on-one or small-group instruction to students as directed.
Student Supervision: Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, recess, lunchtime, and other times as needed, ensuring their safety and well-being.
Behavior Management: Support positive behavior management strategies in the classroom, including implementing individual behavior plans, providing reinforcement for appropriate behavior, and de-escalating conflicts or disruptions.
Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Assist with assessing student progress and performance, including administering tests or other assessments, scoring assignments, and maintaining records of student achievement.
Resource Preparation: Prepare instructional materials, classroom resources, and learning aids, such as visual aids, worksheets, or educational games, to support student learning and engagement.
Personal Care: Provide assistance with personal care tasks, such as toileting, feeding, or dressing, for students who require additional support due to physical or developmental needs.
Communication: Communicate regularly with teachers, parents, and other staff members to share information about student progress, behavior, and any concerns or issues that arise.
Individualized Support: Provide individualized support and accommodations for students with special needs or learning differences, as outlined in their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) or other educational plans.
Technology Assistance: Assist students with using educational technology and software programs, including computers, tablets, interactive whiteboards, and assistive technology devices.
Supervision of Activities: Lead or assist with extracurricular activities, field trips, or other special events, ensuring that students are supervised and engaged in safe and appropriate activities.

Qualifications and Competencies

Organization: Good organizational skills are necessary for managing materials, resources, and schedules effectively, as well as for assisting with classroom planning and preparation.
