  • Supporting Classroom Instruction: Assist teachers in delivering instruction by preparing materials, setting up equipment, and providing additional support to students during lessons.

  • Individualized Instruction: Work with students one-on-one or in small groups to provide additional support and reinforcement of classroom learning, particularly for students with special needs or those who require extra assistance.

  • Behavioral Support: Assist in managing student behavior and maintaining a positive learning environment by implementing behavior management strategies, providing guidance, and intervening as necessary to address disruptive behavior.

  • Personal Care Assistance: Provide personal care assistance to students with disabilities or special needs, including helping with mobility, toileting, feeding, and other activities of daily living as required.

  • Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Assist in assessing student progress and achievement by administering tests, quizzes, and other assessments under the direction of the classroom teacher, and recording and reporting student performance data.

  • Communication with Parents and Guardians: Communicate regularly with parents or guardians to provide updates on student progress, discuss concerns, and collaborate on strategies to support student learning and development.

  • Record Keeping and Documentation: Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student attendance, behavior, academic performance, and progress towards individualized goals or objectives.

  • Assistive Technology Support: Provide assistance with the use of assistive technology devices or software to support students with disabilities in accessing the curriculum and participating fully in classroom activities.

  • Crisis Intervention and Support: Provide support and assistance during emergencies or crisis situations, including implementing emergency procedures, comforting students, and following established protocols for reporting incidents.

  • Professional Development and Training: Participate in ongoing professional development activities, training workshops, and staff meetings to enhance skills, knowledge, and understanding of best practices in education and special education.

  • Collaboration with School Staff: Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education teachers, school administrators, and other school staff to support the overall educational program and promote the success of all students.

  • Other Duties as Assigned: Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the classroom teacher, school administration, or special education coordinator to support the effective functioning of the school and meet the needs of students.
