AVSI

Education (Capacity Building) Specialist may vary depending on the organization, sector, and geographic location. However, the overarching goal is to strengthen education systems, enhance teaching and learning outcomes, and promote equitable access to quality education for all.

  • Curriculum Development: Collaborating with education stakeholders to design, develop, and review curriculum frameworks, learning materials, and resources tailored to specific educational contexts and needs.

  • Teacher Training and Professional Development: Organizing and delivering training sessions, workshops, and seminars for educators to improve teaching methodologies, pedagogical approaches, and subject knowledge. Providing ongoing support and mentoring to teachers to enhance their professional growth and effectiveness.

  • Capacity Building Initiatives: Designing and implementing capacity building initiatives aimed at strengthening educational institutions, systems, and leadership at various levels. This may involve conducting needs assessments, developing action plans, and coordinating capacity building activities.

  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Establishing monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to assess the effectiveness and impact of capacity building interventions and educational programs. Collecting and analyzing data to identify areas for improvement and inform decision-making.

  • Policy Analysis and Development: Conducting policy analysis and research to inform the development of education policies, strategies, and frameworks aligned with national priorities, international standards, and best practices in education.

  • Partnership and Collaboration: Building and maintaining partnerships with government agencies, educational institutions, NGOs, donors, and other stakeholders to leverage resources, share knowledge, and promote collaboration in education capacity building efforts.

  • Technical Assistance: Providing technical assistance and advisory support to education authorities, schools, and education-related organizations on issues related to curriculum development, teacher training, assessment, and education management.

  • Inclusive Education: Promoting inclusive education practices and strategies to ensure that education systems are accessible and responsive to the diverse needs of all learners, including those with disabilities, marginalized groups, and vulnerable populations.

  • Knowledge Sharing and Dissemination: Facilitating the dissemination of best practices, lessons learned, and research findings in education capacity building through publications, presentations, conferences, and knowledge sharing platforms.

  • Project Management: Managing education capacity building projects from inception to completion, including project planning, budgeting, implementation, monitoring, and reporting. Ensuring compliance with project objectives, timelines, and donor requirements.

  • Advocacy and Awareness-Raising: Advocating for the importance of education capacity building and raising awareness about the benefits of investing in quality education for sustainable development, economic growth, and social cohesion.

  • Provide lead support in the development and implementation of capacity building programs for all education officers, including orientation of the new staff;

  • Provide support for material development for academic courses;

  • Participate in supervision of students’ research;

  • Participate in academic and professional research as may be required;

  • Provide support in expression of interest, concept notes, proposals for new projects and sponsors in the fields of education, child protection, human rights and others.

  • Essential Requirements

  • Educational background: Master degree in Education or PHD (Arts and Humanity subjects preferred)
