Job Description
The duties of a driver can vary depending on the specific job and context, such as whether they are a personal driver, a commercial truck driver, a delivery driver, or working in a specialized field like public transportation or ride-sharing.

Vehicle Operation:
Safely operate the assigned vehicle in compliance with traffic laws and regulations.
Follow the designated route and schedule, ensuring timely arrival at destinations.
Vehicle Maintenance and Inspection:
Perform routine vehicle maintenance checks, including oil, tire pressure, brakes, and lights.
Ensure the vehicle is clean, well-maintained, and in good working order.
Report any mechanical issues or necessary repairs to the appropriate person.
Passenger and Cargo Safety:
Ensure the safety and comfort of passengers during transit.
Secure and handle cargo properly to prevent damage and ensure safe transport.
Follow safety protocols for loading and unloading passengers or cargo.
Navigation and Route Planning:
Use maps, GPS devices, or route planning software to determine the most efficient routes.
Stay updated on road conditions, traffic patterns, and potential delays.
Adjust routes as necessary to avoid traffic congestion or hazards.
Record Keeping and Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of trips, including mileage, fuel consumption, and travel time.
Complete any required paperwork, such as delivery receipts, logbooks, or trip reports.
Ensure all necessary documents, such as licenses and permits, are up to date and available.
Customer Service:
Provide courteous and professional service to passengers or clients.
Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, including handling luggage if required.
Address and resolve any passenger or client concerns during the trip.
Compliance with Regulations:
Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations regarding driving and transportation.
Follow company policies and procedures, including dress codes and behavior standards.
Participate in any required training or certification programs.
Communication:
Maintain effective communication with dispatchers, supervisors, or clients to coordinate trips and schedules.
Notify the relevant parties of any delays, accidents, or other issues during transit.
Provide updates on trip status and report any incidents promptly.
Emergency Response:
Be prepared to handle emergencies, such as accidents, breakdowns, or medical situations.
Follow company protocols for emergency situations and report incidents to authorities and supervisors.

Ordinary Level Certificate of Education
Possession of valid driver's license classes B, CM and DL
At least 5 years of experience as a driver in a Non-Governmental Organisation
Experience in driving senior officials
History of a safe driving record
Experience driving a 4X4 vehicles on rough terrain
Experience in defensive driving Experience in driving upcountry and knowledge of the regions in Uganda is an added advantage
