This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as the Director of Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) for Adara Development (Uganda). As the leader of Adara's Uganda operations, the Director will be responsible for the development, coordination and implementation of Adara's MNCH strategy.
They will ensure the delivery of high-quality programming. foster strong partnerships, and provide exceptional financial management and governance. Leading a team of 18 people and acting a key member of Adara's Global Leadership Team, this role will be instrumental in achieving Adara Development's ambitious strategy.

Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives to improve maternal and newborn healthcare services. Set goals, objectives, and performance metrics to measure progress and outcomes.
Program Management: Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of maternal and newborn health programs and initiatives. Ensure alignment with organizational priorities, guidelines, and standards of care.
Clinical Leadership: Provide clinical leadership and guidance to healthcare teams involved in maternal and newborn care. Promote evidence-based practices, protocols, and guidelines to enhance patient outcomes and safety.
Quality Improvement: Lead quality improvement efforts to enhance the quality, safety, and effectiveness of maternal and newborn healthcare services. Monitor clinical outcomes, identify areas for improvement, and implement quality improvement initiatives.
Staff Management: Supervise and support healthcare professionals, including nurses, midwives, physicians, and support staff, working in maternal and newborn care units. Provide mentoring, training, and professional development opportunities.
Resource Allocation: Allocate resources, including personnel, equipment, and supplies, to ensure efficient and effective delivery of maternal and newborn healthcare services. Optimize resource utilization to meet patient needs and organizational goals.
Collaboration: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including obstetricians, pediatricians, neonatologists, and other healthcare providers, to coordinate care for pregnant women, mothers, and newborns. Foster collaboration and communication among team members.
Policy Development: Develop and implement policies, protocols, and guidelines related to maternal and newborn care. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and best practices in maternal and newborn healthcare.
Patient Education: Develop and implement patient education programs and materials to promote maternal and newborn health literacy. Provide information and support to expectant mothers, new mothers, and their families.
Community Outreach: Engage with community stakeholders, organizations, and partners to promote maternal and newborn health awareness, education, and access to care. Develop partnerships to address social determinants of health and reduce disparities in maternal and newborn outcomes.
Data Analysis: Analyze clinical data, patient outcomes, and performance indicators to evaluate the effectiveness of maternal and newborn healthcare services. Use data-driven insights to inform decision-making and drive quality improvement efforts.
Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement protocols and procedures for managing obstetric and neonatal emergencies. Ensure readiness to respond to maternal and newborn health crises and disasters.
Research and Innovation: Support research and innovation in maternal and newborn healthcare. Collaborate with academic institutions, research organizations, and industry partners to advance knowledge, technologies, and practices in the field.
Advocacy: Advocate for policies, programs, and resources that promote maternal and newborn health at the local, national, and international levels. Raise awareness of key issues and mobilize support for maternal and newborn healthcare initiatives.
Ethical Conduct: Uphold ethical standards and principles in all aspects of maternal and newborn healthcare. Ensure patient rights, privacy, and confidentiality are respected. Adhere to professional codes of conduct and organizational values.

10+ years' experience in a leadership role within a large or international organisation
Extensive experience with strategic planning. leadership and people management, quality improvement, project management and planning. monitoring and evaluation, and financial management.
Master's Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. medicine, nursing, public health, social work, international development, business management, administration or finance).
Clinical experience will be well-regarded.
Fluency in Luganda and in spoken and written English to tertiary level.
Comfortable working at both strategic and operational level.
Ability to work cross-culturally and across different time zones, sometimes out of regular business hours.
