Food Preparation:
Prepare ingredients for cooking, including chopping, slicing, dicing, and marinating.
Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes and menu specifications.
Cooking:
Cook food items by grilling, frying, sautéing, baking, or other cooking methods.
Monitor food quality and presentation to ensure consistency.
Adjust cooking techniques based on the type of cuisine and specific recipes.
Menu Planning:
Collaborate with the head chef or kitchen manager to plan and develop menus.
Suggest new dishes and contribute to recipe development.
Consider customer preferences and dietary requirements when planning dishes.
Kitchen Maintenance:
Maintain a clean and organized work station.
Follow proper sanitation and hygiene procedures.
Ensure all kitchen equipment is cleaned and maintained regularly.
Inventory Management:
Check stock levels and order supplies as needed.
Receive and inspect deliveries for quality and accuracy.
Store ingredients properly to prevent spoilage and waste.
Compliance and Safety:
Adhere to health and safety regulations in the kitchen.
Follow food safety standards to prevent contamination and foodborne illnesses.
Ensure all food is cooked to the appropriate temperature.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with other kitchen staff, including chefs, sous chefs, and kitchen assistants.
Communicate effectively to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
Assist in training new kitchen staff as needed.
Customer Service:
Occasionally interact with customers to ensure satisfaction and receive feedback.
Address any complaints or issues related to food preparation or quality.

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Culinary school training or a certificate in culinary arts is preferred but not always required.
Experience:
Previous experience as a cook or in a related culinary position.
Experience with various cooking techniques and kitchen equipment.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques.
Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
Good knife skills and understanding of ingredient handling.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for long periods and work in a fast-paced environment.
Physical stamina to handle the demands of the kitchen, including lifting heavy pots and pans.
Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for chopping and cooking.
Personal Attributes:
Attention to detail and a focus on quality.
Creativity and passion for cooking.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work well under pressure and in a team environment.
Certifications:
Food handler’s permit or certification, depending on local regulations.
Knowledge of HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) standards is beneficial.
