Having completed the construction of a ship, the M/v Mpungu for Lake Victoria, Grindrod Logistics Africa Uganda seeks to recruit skilled, experienced and motivated persons to work in Port Bell and Luzira.
Contract Review: Review contract documents, including terms and conditions, specifications, and pricing schedules, to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Contract Negotiation: Participate in contract negotiations with vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, or clients to finalize contract terms, resolve issues, and reach mutually acceptable agreements.
Contract Drafting: Draft, prepare, and finalize contract documents, amendments, and modifications based on negotiated terms and company requirements.
Contract Administration: Administer contracts throughout their lifecycle, including monitoring contract performance, tracking key milestones, and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
Vendor Management: Establish and maintain relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and other external parties involved in contract execution, including communicating expectations, resolving disputes, and evaluating performance.
Risk Management: Identify contractual risks and liabilities, assess their potential impact on the organization, and develop risk mitigation strategies to protect the company's interests.
Compliance Monitoring: Monitor contract compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal policy requirements, including reporting, documentation, and record-keeping obligations.
Change Management: Manage changes to contract scope, terms, or conditions, including assessing impacts, obtaining approvals, and documenting modifications in accordance with established procedures.
Dispute Resolution: Facilitate dispute resolution processes, including mediation, arbitration, or litigation, as needed to resolve contractual disputes and enforce contractual rights.
Contract Closeout: Facilitate the closure of contracts upon completion of performance obligations, including finalizing payments, obtaining releases or waivers, and archiving contract documentation for future reference.
Training and Support: Provide training, guidance, and support to internal stakeholders on contract management processes, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance and minimize risks.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and efficiency gains in contract management practices and contribute to the development and implementation of improvement initiatives.

Education: A bachelor's degree in business administration, contract management, law, finance, or a related field is typically required. Some employers may prefer candidates with a master's degree or relevant certifications.
Experience: Previous experience in contract administration, procurement, or a related field is often required. Experience in a specific industry, such as construction, government contracting, or healthcare, may be advantageous.
Knowledge of Contract Law: Strong understanding of contract law, including contract terms, legal requirements, and best practices for drafting and negotiating contracts.
Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical abilities to review and analyze contract terms, identify risks, and propose solutions to mitigate potential issues.
Attention to Detail: Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in reviewing, drafting, and interpreting contract documents and related correspondence.
Communication Skills: Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and legal counsel during the contract negotiation and execution process.
Negotiation Skills: Proficient negotiation skills to negotiate favorable terms and conditions, resolve disputes, and reach mutually beneficial agreements with vendors or clients.
Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple contracts simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Computer Skills: Proficiency in using contract management software, database systems, and Microsoft Office applications (such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) to maintain accurate records and generate reports.
Ethical Conduct: High ethical standards and integrity to adhere to legal and ethical guidelines, maintain confidentiality, and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and make informed decisions to resolve contract-related problems or conflicts.
Collaboration: Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including legal, procurement, finance, and operations, to ensure alignment of contract terms with business objectives and requirements.
Customer Focus: Customer-oriented mindset to understand and meet the needs of internal stakeholders and external clients while balancing risk management and compliance considerations.
