Founded in 1950, Doctors with Africa CUAMM is an Italian organization engaged in the health sector in Sub-Saharan Africa and it operates in 8 countries (Angola, Uganda, Tanzania, South Sudan, Central African Republic, Sierra Leone, Ethiopia and Mozambique), where it delivers health programmes and expertise to help bring health services closer to the neediest and suffering.

In partnership with Christian Blind Mission, CUAMM in Uganda is starting a new project in West Nile named: Inclusive emergency initiative to strengthen health services and hygiene practices in refugee and host communities in West Nile, Uganda.

The project, which is funded by the Italian Government has the following results areas; R1: Access to integrated health services and basic health practices have improved among refugees and host communities in Terego district; R2: Hygiene practices of refugees and host communities in Terego district are strengthened, with special attention to women and people with disabilities; R3: Referral services for the most vulnerable groups are strengthened and actors present have the capacity to implement inclusive humanitarian intervention.

About Organisation:
Doctors with Africa CUAMM is currently implementing a project “Strengthening District Health Systems for Improved Access to and Utilization of Quality integrated RMNCAH Services in Karamoja”. The Funding for this Project is from the Embassy of Ireland in Uganda. The Actions are spearheaded by CUAMM in Partnership with the Ministry of health (MOH), Uganda Blood transfusion services (UBTS), Mbarara University Center for Simulation, Health professional associations, Moroto Regional referral hospital and the 9 District Local government in Karamoja.
About CUAMM Internship:
Doctors with Africa CUAMM Uganda is excited to announce the phase Il of a Youth Graduate Internship Program aimed at providing valuable training and experience in health, community engagement, and data management. We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated young individuals who have graduated within the past 2 years to fill the following internship positions across 9 districts of Karamoja.
Job Summary: The Community Engagement Officers will work closely with communities to promote health and foster positive engagement.

Community Outreach and Relationship Building:

  • Engagement Strategies: Develop and implement strategies to engage community members and stakeholders.

  • Community Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact between the organization and the community, fostering positive relationships.

  • Partnerships: Build and maintain partnerships with local organizations, community groups, and other stakeholders.


Program Planning and Implementation:

  • Event Coordination: Plan, organize, and execute community events, workshops, and meetings.

  • Program Development: Design and implement community programs and initiatives that align with the organization’s goals.

  • Volunteer Management: Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers to support community engagement activities.


Communication and Advocacy:

  • Public Relations: Manage communications with the community through various channels, including social media, newsletters, and public presentations.

  • Advocacy: Advocate for community needs and concerns within the organization and promote the organization’s mission to the community.

  • Feedback Collection: Gather feedback from community members to inform organizational planning and decision-making.


Education and Awareness:

  • Information Dissemination: Provide information and resources to the community about the organization’s programs, services, and initiatives.

  • Workshops and Training: Conduct educational sessions and training programs to raise awareness about key issues and empower community members.

  • Resource Development: Create educational materials and resources to support community engagement efforts.


Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Impact Assessment: Measure the impact of community engagement activities and programs using qualitative and quantitative methods.

  • Reporting: Prepare reports on community engagement efforts, including outcomes, challenges, and recommendations.

  • Continuous Improvement: Use evaluation results to refine and improve engagement strategies and activities.


Administrative Duties:

  • Record Keeping: Maintain records of community interactions, program participation, and engagement activities.

  • Budget Management: Manage budgets for community engagement projects and ensure efficient use of resources.

  • Compliance: Ensure that community engagement activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
