Women's International Peace Centre
A Communications Officer must possess strong writing and editing skills, be adept at managing multiple communication channels, and have the ability to build and maintain relationships with various stakeholders.
Strategic Communication Planning:
Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies to support the organization's goals and objectives.
Coordinate with various departments to ensure consistent messaging and branding.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies and adjust as needed.
Public Relations Management:
Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and other key stakeholders.
Draft and distribute press releases, media kits, and other public relations materials.
Organize and manage press conferences, media briefings, and other PR events.
Content Creation:
Write, edit, and produce content for various platforms, including websites, social media, newsletters, reports, and marketing materials.
Ensure all content is accurate, engaging, and aligned with the organization’s messaging and brand guidelines.
Collaborate with graphic designers, videographers, and other creatives to produce multimedia content.
Social Media Management:
Develop and implement social media strategies to increase visibility and engagement.
Create and schedule posts across various social media platforms.
Monitor social media channels, respond to comments and messages, and engage with the online community.
Internal Communications:
Facilitate effective communication within the organization to ensure employees are informed and engaged.
Produce and distribute internal newsletters, memos, and announcements.
Organize and manage internal events, such as town hall meetings and employee briefings.
Crisis Communication:
Develop and implement crisis communication plans to manage and mitigate potential issues.
Serve as the primary point of contact for media and public inquiries during a crisis.
Prepare and disseminate statements, Q&A documents, and other materials to address the crisis.
Media Monitoring and Analysis:
Monitor media coverage of the organization and its industry.
Analyze media reports and provide insights to senior management.
Track and report on communication metrics, such as media reach, engagement, and sentiment.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Identify and engage with key stakeholders, including customers, partners, investors, and the community.
Develop and maintain a stakeholder database and manage communications.
Organize and participate in events, meetings, and other activities to build stakeholder relationships.
Brand Management:
Ensure all communication materials adhere to the organization’s brand guidelines.
Promote and protect the organization’s brand image and reputation.
Conduct regular brand audits and implement improvements.
Advocacy and Campaigns:
Plan and execute advocacy campaigns to support the organization’s mission and objectives.
Develop campaign materials and coordinate with partners and stakeholders.
Monitor and evaluate the impact of advocacy efforts.
Event Management:
Plan, organize, and manage events such as conferences, seminars, and public engagements.
Coordinate logistics, including venue selection, catering, and technical support.
Promote events through various communication channels.
Training and Support:
Provide communication training and support to staff and volunteers.
Develop guidelines and best practices for effective communication.
Assist in the preparation of speeches, presentations, and other communication materials for senior executives.

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Communications, Information Management, and Journalism or relevant field Knowledge and understanding of Gender, Peace and Conflict Resolution. Mediation and Reconciliation is an added advantage.
• At least 4 years of progressively responsible work experience in communications, advocacy,
• research and information
• Excellent writing and editing skills across a range of communications formats and platforms Experience in graphic design, photography and photo editing and/or web design is an asset.
• Fluency in English is a must
