Job Description

The Communications Consultant will provide strategic communication support to promote disaster risk reduction activities within the region. The role includes developing and executing communication plans, producing high-quality multimedia and written content, managing online visibility, strengthening stakeholder engagement, and supporting advocacy campaigns. The consultant will contribute to ensuring increased awareness of UNDRR initiatives and improved visibility of disaster-resilient strategies across Africa. The work will involve coordinating with internal teams, partners, and regional stakeholders to amplify the organization’s messaging and impact.

Academic & Professional Qualifications

Experience

  • Proven experience producing high-quality communication and advocacy materials

  • Experience in digital communication, content creation, and social media management

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong communication and writing skills

  • Ability to develop and implement communication strategies

  • Familiarity with disaster risk reduction or humanitarian/development work is desirable

  • Ability to work with diverse stakeholders and under tight deadlines

  • Strong digital media skills and experience working in multicultural environments
