Job Description
The Trainer designs and delivers instructor-led and practical workshops on border control workflows (visa processing, biometric enrolment, case handling). They tailor curricula to diverse audiences (law enforcement, admin and technical staff), conduct needs assessments, adapt content to learning styles, build job aids and refresher modules, and coordinate post-training helpdesk support. The role collaborates with system developers/operations to keep materials aligned to product updates, evaluates training effectiveness through assessments and feedback, maintains accurate training records, and drives continuous improvement.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Design and deliver engaging training on border control/immigration systems (visa processing, biometric enrolment, reporting).
Facilitate workshops for adult learners (law enforcement, administrative and technical personnel).
Customize materials for trainees with and without IT backgrounds; apply varied learning styles (visual/auditory/kinesthetic).
Conduct needs assessments; develop curricula, lesson plans, labs and assessments.
Provide post-training support: refresher sessions, job aids, and helpdesk coordination.
Collaborate with developers/operations to reflect system updates and workflow changes.
Evaluate effectiveness using feedback, quizzes, practical assessments and performance metrics.
Maintain attendance, results and certification records; contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in IT, Education or related field.
3+ years IT training experience (immigration/public sector preferred).
Proven ability to train adults with mixed technical proficiency.
Familiarity with immigration systems, databases and user interfaces; knowledge of international immigration protocols and data privacy standards.
Strong English & Swahili (written and verbal) communication.
Curriculum development and digital training tools experience.
Technical advantage: Microsoft SQL Server, biometric systems, case-management platforms.
Certification in adult education/instructional design/IT training (e.g., CompTIA CTT+) is an added advantage.
Soft skills: empathy, facilitation, stakeholder engagement, results orientation, meticulous record-keeping.
