Job Description
The Call Center Agent – Patient Care Services will handle inbound calls from patients and direct them to appropriate service units including dispatch care, telemedicine, diagnostics, and mini clinic services. The candidate will need a strong understanding of healthcare processes and the ability to use clinical judgment for triage, appointment scheduling, and escalation of urgent cases. Additionally, the role involves data entry in electronic health systems (EHR/EMR), coordination with medical teams, and maintaining high standards of patient confidentiality and service delivery.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Answer and triage inbound patient calls across various healthcare service lines
Assess caller needs and direct to appropriate service (e.g., dispatch unit, diagnostics, telemedicine)
Use clinical judgment to escalate urgent medical concerns
Schedule patient appointments and manage referrals
Enter and update patient data in electronic health systems (EHR/EMR)
Coordinate with clinical and diagnostics teams to ensure service delivery
Provide instructions for virtual care visits and test preparations
Maintain confidentiality and comply with data privacy standards (e.g., HIPAA/local laws)
Participate in quality assurance and continuous improvement activities
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Educational Background:
Diploma or Degree in Nursing, Health Information Management, Public Health, or related healthcare field
Experience:
1–2 years of experience in a healthcare environment (hospital, HMO, diagnostics center, clinic)
Previous experience in a medical call center or telehealth environment is highly desirable
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems
Strong phone etiquette and call center software proficiency
Accurate data entry and multitasking abilities
Soft Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Empathetic and patient-centered demeanor
Problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Ability to work in a metrics-driven, fast-paced environment
Willingness to work night shifts, weekends, and holidays
