Job Description
The Business Development Manager is a high-impact, commercially driven leadership role designed to unlock new revenue streams, scale the B2B portfolio, and expand market footprint. The role leads the commercialization of farmgate sales, accelerates market penetration of high-margin value-added products (VAPs) such as fillets and smoked fish, and spearheads entry into regional and international export markets.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Design and execute a robust Farmgate sales strategy to optimize high-volume bulk sales
- Develop sales forecast accuracy for production planning
- Identify, onboard, and manage relationships with local and regional farmgate resellers and international markets
- Monitor market pricing, demand-supply dynamics, and competitor activity
- Drive sales strategy for premium Value-Added Products (fillets, smoked fish) targeting HORECA, premium supermarkets, and corporate institutions
- Lead market entry strategy to open new export channels across East Africa and international markets
- Navigate regional trade policies and regulations to open new export corridors
- Coordinate with production and harvesting teams to align supply with demand
- Ensure adherence to farmgate SOPs
- Collaborate with marketing on promotional campaigns and packaging for high-end consumers
