It’s bordered by Iganga in the north Jinja in the west, Bugiri in the east and Lake Victoria in the south which is shared by Mukono, district, Bugiri, Mayuge itself and Jinja city.

Applications are invited from suitable qualified persons to fill the underlisted vacant post that exist in the service of Mayuge District Local Government. Applications should be submitted in Triplicate on PSC 3(Revised 2008) to the Secretary District Service Commission PO Box 1317 MAYUGE not later than four weeks from the date of this advertisement.
Application forms can be obtained from Public Service Commission Office 2nd floor Farmers' parliamentary Avenue Kampala and/ or any of the District Service Commission Offices and MUST be filled in the applicants own handwriting with three (3) passport size photographs attached. Serving officers should route their applications through their supervisors who should be informed of the closing date to avoid any unnecessary delay.

To prepare and maintain accurate books of accounts, ledgers, cash books, and other financial records for the district.
To assist in the preparation of annual budgets, work plans, financial statements, and reports for the district.
To process payments, receipts, vouchers, and other financial transactions for the district.
To ensure compliance with the Public Finance Management Act, the Local Governments Act, the Treasury Accounting Instructions, and other relevant laws and regulations.
To perform bank reconciliations, petty cash management, and audit queries for the district.
To support the internal and external audit processes for the district.
To perform any other duties as assigned by the Senior Accountant or the Chief Administrative Officer.

The minimum qualifications for the Assistant Accountants job are:
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field from a recognized institution.
At least two years of relevant work experience in accounting or finance in a public or private sector organization.
Proficiency in computerized accounting systems, such as IFMS, QuickBooks, Tally, etc.
Knowledge of the local government financial management system and procedures.
Good communication, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
High integrity, honesty, accountability, and professionalism.
