Kabarole District is Located in Western Uganda at a road Distance of 300 km from Kampala the capital city. It has an estimated population of 318,216 (Census 2014) and a population growth rate of 2.3 per annum. The District lies at an altitude of 1300-3800 meters above sea level. It borders with Bunyangabu in the south, Kamwenge in South East, Kyenjojo in the East, Bundibugyo and Ntoroko in the Northwest and Kibaale in the North east.

The District has good climate with temperatures ranging from 20°C to 30°C and rainfall ranging from 1,200mm – 1,500 mm per annum. The District has cool temperatures averaging between 22°-25°C and has a bimodal rainfall, ranging from 1200mm – 1500mm per annum. The district has three distinct agro-ecological zones i.e. North-eastern zone, the Middle zone and the Highland (Mountain) zone. The three different zones offer different opportunities for commercial agriculture ranging from tea, dairy cattle, bananas, coffee, Apiary, and Horticulture. In addition the district is covered by rolling hills and mountains with acidic soils which have favoured tea growing. Furthermore the District is covered with good soils conducive for agriculture where geological divisions show that 90% of the district is covered with black loam (volcanic) soil while a few places especially in Busoro and parts of Hakibaale sub counties have red sandy clay loams occasionally underlain by soft laterites.

Applications are invited from suitable qualified Ugandans to fill vacant post that exist in Kabarole District Local Government on Replacement Basis. Applications should be submitted in triplicate on Public Service Commission Form 3 (Revised 2008) to the Secretary District Service Commission, Kabarole P.O. Box 38, Fort Portal not later than 26th April 2024 at 5pm which is a closing date.

Application Forms can be obtained from Public Service Commission Offices situated on 2nd Floor, Farmers House, Kampala and District Service Commission Office all over the County.

Applications should bear the title of the post clearly applied for and its reference number specified against the vacancy. Certified copies of academic certificates, transcripts, National Identify Card and a recent Passport photograph must be attached on all the three (3) Forms.

Serving Officers MUST route their applications through their Accounting Officers/Responsible Officers who should be informed of the closing date to avoid delays.

Appointment in the Public Service is based on merit and therefore lobbying and canvassing for jobs shall lead to disqualification of the applicant.

  • Patrolling: Conduct regular patrols of assigned areas to monitor for suspicious activity, unauthorized access, or security breaches. This may involve walking or driving around the perimeter of a property, inspecting doors and windows, and checking security equipment.

  • Access Control: Control access to restricted areas by checking credentials, verifying identification, and ensuring that only authorized individuals enter secure locations.

  • Surveillance: Monitor surveillance cameras and alarm systems to keep track of activity within a facility or property. Report any security breaches or unusual incidents to appropriate authorities.

  • Crowd Control: Maintain order and safety during events or gatherings by managing crowd flow, enforcing rules, and intervening in conflicts or disturbances as necessary.

  • Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergencies such as fires, medical incidents, or security breaches. Take appropriate action to mitigate risks, evacuate people if necessary, and alert emergency services.

  • Incident Reporting: Document any security incidents, disturbances, or violations of policy in written reports. Provide detailed accounts of events, including descriptions of individuals involved, actions taken, and outcomes.

  • Customer Service: Provide assistance and information to visitors, employees, or customers as needed. Offer directions, escort services, or other assistance to enhance safety and customer satisfaction.

  • Alarm Response: Investigate alarms and alerts triggered by security systems, such as intrusion alarms, fire alarms, or motion sensors. Determine the cause of the alarm and take appropriate action.

  • Property Protection: Protect property from theft, vandalism, or other damage by maintaining a visible presence, securing doors and windows, and reporting any security vulnerabilities to management.

  • Cooperation with Law Enforcement: Collaborate with local law enforcement agencies to report crimes, assist with investigations, and support efforts to maintain public safety.

  • Legal Knowledge: A basic understanding of relevant laws and regulations pertaining to security operations is important for security guards to perform their duties lawfully and ethically.

  • First Aid/CPR Certification: Some employers may require security guards to have certification in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to provide immediate assistance in medical emergencies.
