Area Program Coordinator – Kakuma job at IsraAID

Job Description

Reporting to the Country Director, the Area Program Coordinator will provide leadership in the execution and supervision of IsraAID’s programming in Turkana County. This includes strategic planning, project cycle management, stakeholder coordination, budget oversight, and team supervision. The incumbent will ensure quality programming that adheres to IsraAID and international standards, while fostering partnerships and ensuring compliance with donor and government requirements. The role also involves responsibility for security management, field operations, and resource mobilization initiatives to promote sustainability and program growth.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

  • Disseminate IsraAID’s mission and values within the area of operation.

  • Identify and develop partnerships aligned with IsraAID’s strategy.

  • Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs ensuring participatory and rights-based approaches.

  • Stay informed on regional political, economic, and social developments to inform programming.

  • Oversee all program components through the project cycle with ongoing support to staff.

  • Develop and monitor project implementation plans, impact assessments, and risk mitigation strategies.

  • Supervise budgeting and financial performance, ensuring donor compliance and timely reporting.

  • Manage staffing needs, supervise project managers, and oversee HR-related functions.

  • Promote capacity-building among program staff and facilitate ongoing technical support.

  • Maintain program security and risk management protocols.

  • Represent IsraAID in external coordination meetings and ensure program complementarity with other actors.

  • Lead fundraising and proposal development efforts.

  • Ensure ethical conduct and compliance with internal and international humanitarian standards.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in social sciences, economics, international development, or related field; Master’s degree is an added advantage.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in program management, with at least 2 years at a senior level in conflict/post-conflict settings.

  • Strong leadership, team-building, and project design skills.

  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and strategic partnerships.

  • Proven success in grant writing, proposal development, and donor reporting.

  • Financial literacy including budget management and financial reporting.

  • Experience in logistics, procurement, and contract management.

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Commitment to ethical standards, humanitarian principles, and IsraAID’s core values.
