Agronomist Coffee & Cocoa job at DGB
DGB
The purpose of the Agronomist is to advise all the Coffee and Cocoa farmers to ensure maximum productivity and help protect the environment with good agricultural practices.
Advising farmers on best agriculture practices to improve their crop yields.
Provide technical assistance to farmers in Coffee and Cocoa production and quality aspects
Ensuring the Coffee and Cocoa farmers meet with the required quality level.
Keeping up to date with product developments and legislation
Making nutrition plans to schedule fertiliser application based on soil testing as permitted by the applied methodologies
Recording information on plant growth and environmental conditions
Collaborate with other partners to improve access to support farmers
Establish corrective measures with project team for any quality issues
Provide Material and feedback to planting monitors for communication purposes
Provide Information on Coffee and Cocoa farmer’s issues
Manage Education and Demonstration Farms for endorse Good Agriculture Practices
Minimum Bachelor of Agriculture
Strong knowledge of agricultural/crop production practices
More than 5 years’ experience in Coffee and Cocoa agricultural practices in Uganda
Fluent in English, a minimum of 1 local language (of the project location area)
Having good analytical, negotiation, communication, and presentation skills
Willing to travel to field locations in-country
Strong cultural understanding of the project region
Must be able to operate inside an international organisational culture
