Job Description
The Agricultural Extension Officer will be responsible for mobilizing farmers, delivering training sessions, promoting sustainable agricultural practices, monitoring livestock performance, and providing technical guidance to community structures. The role demands regular field visits and close collaboration with State ACReSAL teams and local community organizations. Officers will be stationed in Yobe North, Yobe South, or Yobe East.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Mobilize and engage farmers in adopting sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture practices
Deliver field-level training and capacity-building sessions to smallholder farmers
Promote agroforestry, soil conservation, and efficient water use techniques
Monitor livestock performance and provide technical support
Collect and submit field data, success stories, and feedback
Work in collaboration with State ACReSAL teams, Community Interest Groups (CIGs), Community Resource Facilitators (CRFs), and Site Committees
Ensure accurate documentation, reporting, and attendance for all field activities
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
B.Sc./HND in Agricultural Extension, Agronomy, Crop Science, Animal Science, or related fields
Minimum of 5 years of relevant field experience in agricultural extension or climate-resilient agriculture
Experience working in rural farming communities, especially in Yobe State
Must reside in or be willing to relocate to one of the Yobe senatorial districts
Fluency in Kanuri, Hausa, or local languages spoken in the assigned senatorial district
