Job Description
The role involves providing strategic direction to agribusiness development initiatives within the VKB project, especially focusing on sorghum and sunflower value chains. The officer will facilitate market linkages, develop agribusiness models, build capacity of farmer groups, support aggregation and value addition activities, and promote sustainable practices. They will also ensure safeguarding standards are met, collaborate with stakeholders, monitor project performance, and report on progress.

How to Apply
Lead agribusiness strategy for the VKB Project aligned with its goals
Implement innovative agribusiness models in sorghum and sunflower value chains
Facilitate market linkages between farmers and buyers at all levels
Support value addition activities such as processing, packaging, and branding
Strengthen value chain linkages with private sector actors and service providers
Design and implement training on business planning, marketing, and cooperative management
Assist in record keeping and decision-making tools for farmer groups
Develop and support tailored business plans for small and medium agribusinesses
Coordinate produce aggregation and establish efficient aggregation centers
Improve quality control and storage practices
Build and maintain partnerships with government agencies, financial institutions, NGOs, and others
Represent the VKB Project in external forums
Monitor, evaluate, and report on agribusiness progress
Promote environmentally sustainable and inclusive practices
Ensure safeguarding standards are understood and practiced across the team
Support safeguarding policy implementation and reporting

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Business Administration, or related field
Master’s Degree is an added advantage
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years in agribusiness development, value chain analysis, agricultural financing, or market linkage, preferably in youth/women-targeted projects
Skills and Competencies:
Strong understanding of gender in agriculture and rural development
Experience in gender-sensitive training and data analysis
Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders
Knowledge of environmentally sustainable and socially inclusive agribusiness practices
