The Palliative Care Association of Uganda (PCAU) was established in 1999 and registered as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in 2003. PCAU was established to coordinate civil society efforts in supporting the government and to integrate palliative care into the national health care system at all levels. By end of 2021, PCAU was composed of 25 organizations and 1300 individual members that included healthcare professionals, caregivers, and community members across the country. The association’s secretariat operates from owned premises in Kitende on Entebbe Road and runs 10 regional committees (branches) in the country.

PCAU is seeking volunteer services from a dynamic and results-oriented communications and marketing professional.
The officer will focus on strategic advocacy for the availability and access to palliative care, the organizational corporate image, interest generation, events management, information generation, and dissemination.
He or she will oversee internal and external communications activities.
They will support the management and delivery of the PCAU Communication Strategy.
The officer will be directly responsible to the Advocacy and Communications Manager.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a degree in communications or marketing-related fields.
They must have at least 2 years of experience in managing communications, resources mobilization, or fundraising roles with national or international institutions.
They should be dynamic and proficient in the use of modern communications tools, and equipment.
The ideal candidate should have the ability for turning the most complex of issues into simple, compelling messages and stories.
They should be enthusiastic about compassionate work and be willing to go the extra mile to serve the plight of the disadvantaged or vulnerable in the community.
The successful candidate will support the development of communications strategies that have the power to shape a public narrative, generate interest, and raise the PCAU profile, membership, partnership, supporters, and contributors.
