Job Description
This full-time, office-based position is best suited for an individual with completed SAIPA articles and IFRS knowledge. The role covers all core aspects of accounting, including bookkeeping, payroll preparation, reconciliations, compliance reporting, and supporting project finance. The Accountant will handle VAT and EMP201 submissions, manage accounts payable/receivable, and support the Financial Director with financial reporting and donor requirements. Proficiency in Sage One, Syft, and PaySpace is essential.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Financial Record Management
Capture financial transactions in Sage One
Process supplier and customer invoices
Maintain organized financial records
Prepare data for VAT 201 and EMP 201 submissions
Reconciliations & Financial Control
Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and supplier statements
Clear control and suspense accounts
Maintain inter-company and project journals
Support balance sheet reconciliations
Accounts Payable & Receivable
Manage AP and AR ageing reports
Prepare and submit payment batches
Resolve billing and invoice queries
Follow up with clients and suppliers
Timesheets, Payroll & Cost Tracking
Collect and verify weekly timesheets
Track labour costs per project
Identify and escalate discrepancies
Project Finance & Reporting Support
Maintain project budgets and funding registers
Monitor and forecast cash flow
Draft monthly cash flow forecasts and management accounts
Support the Financial Director in donor financial reporting
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education
BCom in Accounting or a related Financial Accounting degree
Experience
Completed SAIPA articles
Proven experience with IFRS
Skills and Knowledge
Proficiency in Sage One, Syft, and PaySpace
Strong bookkeeping and reconciliation expertise
Experience with VAT, EMP201 submissions, and project budget tracking
High attention to detail and analytical accuracy
