Job Description
Agricado Farms is seeking experienced professionals in Agriculture/Horticulture to join our team!
AGRICADO Farms is seeking 3 experienced Vegetable Supervisors to oversee the cultivation of Chili, Pepper, and Garden Egg (Eggplant) crops. The Vegetable Supervisor will be responsible for managing all aspects of crop production, ensuring optimal yields, plant health, and high-quality standards for these specific vegetable varieties. These supervisors will lead teams in the field, ensuring effective farming practices and efficient use of resources.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Crop Management:
Oversee the daily operations of chili, pepper, and garden egg cultivation, including planting, irrigation, pest management, and harvesting.
Develop and implement crop production plans, ensuring that planting schedules, growth targets, and harvest dates are met.
Monitor soil conditions, nutrient requirements, and water levels to promote optimal plant health and growth.
Ensure the effective management of inputs (seeds, fertilizers, pesticides) to improve crop productivity while minimizing waste.
Team Supervision:
Supervise and lead a team of farm workers in the daily tasks related to chili, pepper, and garden egg farming activities.
Assign tasks, monitor performance, and ensure that staff follow best agricultural practices and safety procedures.
Train and mentor workers in crop care, pest control, pruning, and harvest techniques.
Ensure that team members are motivated, productive, and work in a safe, efficient manner.
Pest and Disease Control:
Identify and manage pests, diseases, and other environmental factors affecting crop growth.
Implement integrated pest management (IPM) strategies, including the use of organic or chemical treatments, where necessary.
Regularly inspect crops to ensure that pest and disease outbreaks are addressed in a timely manner.
Harvesting and Quality Control:
Oversee the harvesting process, ensuring that crops are harvested at peak maturity for quality and market readiness.
Inspect the harvested crops for quality, ensuring that only premium products are sent for sale or distribution.
Organize and supervise post-harvest handling to maintain crop quality, including sorting, packing, and storage.
Record Keeping & Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of crop performance, pest control activities, water usage, and fertilization schedules.
Report on crop progress, production issues, and workforce performance to the Farm Manager or Crop Production Manager.
Provide recommendations for improving production processes, crop yield, and quality.
Health & Safety Compliance:
Ensure that all farming operations are carried out in compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Maintain a safe working environment by promoting the use of protective equipment and safe handling of chemicals and farm tools.
Conduct safety briefings and ensure that all team members are aware of safety standards and procedures.
Resource Management:
Oversee the use of farm resources (tools, irrigation systems, fertilizers, etc.) to optimize efficiency and minimize costs.
Monitor and manage crop inputs such as seeds, water, and labor to ensure budgetary compliance.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Job Requirements:
• Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture/Horticulture
• Minimum 3 years of experience in the field
• Experience with vegetable production (peppers & other Solanaceous vegetables)
• Good communication skills
• Proficiency in English, Luganda, and/or Kiswahili
• Willingness to live on a remote farm
