Job Description
The Relationship Manager: SME Banking is tasked with expanding the SME portfolio through strategic engagement, business development, and strong client management. This includes acting as the single point of contact for clients, providing comprehensive banking solutions, and aligning product offerings with market demands. The role also includes driving financial growth, enhancing service delivery, and ensuring compliance with risk and regulatory frameworks.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Business Growth & Strategy
Drive strategic direction for SME Banking and ensure growth in profitability and portfolio sustainability
Lead acquisition of new SME clients and retention of existing customers
Translate business strategies into executable action plans
Collaborate with branch network to achieve balance sheet, credit, and sales targets
Monitor market and competitor trends, and recommend product improvements
Customer Relationship Management
Serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for SME clients
Ensure high customer satisfaction and retention through excellent service delivery
Manage deposit portfolios, fixed deposit maturities, and CASA engagement
Resolve escalated client issues and provide personalized support
Monitor and achieve SME Net Promoter Score (NPS) and Management Information System (MIS) targets
Risk, Compliance, and Administration
Submit required documents to credit risk team and follow up on offer letters and securities
Monitor and ensure compliance with KYC, AML, and credit covenants
Track portfolio performance, insurance, valuations, and financial submissions
Utilize risk management tools and support audit and regulatory compliance
Prepare reports, call reports, and relationship-related inputs for budgeting and board approvals
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Academic / Professional Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, Economics, or a related field
Experience
Minimum of 3 years' experience in SME relationship management or a related field
Skills and Competencies
Strong understanding of SME banking products and credit risk analysis
Ability to interpret financial statements and structure financial solutions
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong business development and sales capabilities
Ability to manage client relationships and deliver tailored financial services
Analytical thinking, strategic planning, and problem-solving abilities
Familiarity with regulatory frameworks including KYC and AML
