Ministry of Water and Environment
We are seeking 11 experienced Irrigation Support Officers to provide technical support for the development and management of irrigation schemes in Uganda. The successful candidates will work closely with farmers, local governments, and other stakeholders to ensure sustainable irrigation practices.
Provide technical support on standards, planning implementation and monitoring of feasibility studies designs for water for agricultural production and other agricultural infrastructure
Support in the design process; recommend suitable crops under the prevailing irrigation systems.
Design and implement efficient irrigation schedule and oversee maintenance of the irrigation infrastructure.
Provide advice on the rational use of water for irrigation, maximizing revenues and increase efficiency by use of appropriate technologies;
Support the development of strategy for operation and maintenance of the irrigation infrastructure.
Recommend practices to enhance soil fertility and structure and prevent soil erosion.
Collaborate with relevant departments and prepare reports on crop performance water usage and other key metrics.
Collaborate with research institution to solve the challenges on the irrigation scheme and document success stories.
Carry out any other assignments as may be assigned from time to time.

The applicant should possess an honors' bachelor's Degree in Agriculture (Crop) Agronomy, Agriculture, Social science agriculture land use, and management or related field.
