Job Description

The FSL Extension Worker will be responsible for delivering food security and livelihood programs at the community level. The role includes community mobilization, training, monitoring activities, and documentation. The incumbent will work closely with farmer groups to develop cropping calendars and business plans, integrate sustainable livelihood practices, and ensure the successful delivery of agricultural and vocational skills training. The role also involves evaluating project progress and ensuring quality service delivery.

How to Apply

Programme Implementation (75%):

  • Implement food security and livelihood activities within the project scope.

  • Mobilize communities, conduct targeting, and manage the distribution of livelihood inputs.

  • Develop activity work plans in consultation with the FSL Officer and other staff.

  • Link extension services to other institutions offering credit, technology, and marketing facilities.

  • Collaborate with farmer groups to explore indigenous techniques and develop cropping calendars and business plans.

  • Promote adoption of livelihood innovations like the Sustainable Optimized Land Use Model (OLUM), Block farming, VSLA methodology, and Sustainable Income Generation alternatives.

  • Assist the FSL Officer in delivering relevant trainings to beneficiaries.


Monitoring and Evaluation (25%):

  • Conduct surveys and assessments to identify agricultural and business gaps.

  • Make regular field visits to monitor project progress and update the FSL Officer.

  • Prepare and submit comprehensive monthly and weekly progress reports.

  • Participate in project evaluations and ensure the quality of services delivered by partners.

  • Diploma in Agricultural Extension, Community Nutrition, Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Livestock, Business Development, Forestry, or related field.

  • At least two years of experience in agricultural development, business development, vocational skills training, or cash-based interventions.

  • Previous experience implementing integrated programs, especially those linking nutrition and FSL.

  • Knowledge of agriculture value chains and income-generating activities.

  • Proven ability to write clear and comprehensive reports.

  • Experience working with local and international NGOs.

  • Strong decision-making skills and sound judgment.

  • Flexibility and cultural sensitivity.

  • Fluency in written and spoken English.

  • Proficiency in N’gakaramojong (mandatory).

  • Valid riding permit and ability to ride a motorbike/bicycle.
