Theatre Attendant (2 Positions)

Description (Public)

The Theatre Attendant supports the theatre cardiac nursing team at the Uganda Heart Institute by preparing operating rooms, maintaining sterility, managing surgical equipment and supplies, and assisting with patient positioning and transport.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

Prepare operating rooms with the necessary equipment and supplies, ensuring a sterile environment for surgical procedures
Adhere to strict infection prevention and control protocols, sterilise equipment and maintain a clean environment
Maintain cleanliness of surgical equipment and ensure equipment is working prior to use
Assist with patient positioning, transport and preparation for surgery, ensuring safety and comfort
Monitor and restock surgical supplies and equipment
Maintain accurate records of equipment and linen usage, sterilisation and inventory
Handle used instruments and sets at the end of surgery, dispatch to CSSD and pick sterile sets for the operating room
Maintain a safe and comfortable environment

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

Qualifications & Experience:

At least an O Level certificate (UCE qualifications)
A certificate in a relevant health field

Skills & Competencies:

Attention to detail and strict adherence to sterile procedures
Teamwork and patient-care orientation
Ability to work under pressure in a theatre environment
