Job Description

The Superintendent will ensure optimal electricity service delivery by managing the maintenance, construction, and extension of the municipality’s electrical networks. The role involves supervising operational personnel, ensuring compliance with safety standards, coordinating resources, and implementing policies and strategies for efficient operations. The position requires the ability to work under high-tension conditions in potentially hazardous environments, while ensuring community needs are addressed through reliable electricity supply. The Superintendent will also be responsible for financial planning of operational requirements, identifying training needs for staff, and enhancing community involvement to support local economic development.

  • Education: Trade certificate as an Electrician (Red Seal).

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in local authority electrical networks.

  • Other Requirements:

    • Valid Code B driving licence and own transport.

    • Computer literacy.

    • Willingness and ability to work shifts, overtime, and standby duties when required.

    • Must undergo a criminal record check and fingerprinting with the Tshwane Metro Police Department (at own cost).
