Social Media & Marketing (Part-time)

Gather Africa (gather.africa), a Kampala events discovery platform, is seeking a part-time Social Media & Marketing person to run its social channels, shoot event content and bring event organisers on board. About 10 hours a week, flexible schedule, mostly remote with attendance at some events.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

Plan and post content on Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter) and TikTok
Make short videos at and about events capturing the crowd, atmosphere and key moments
Build relationships with Kampala event organisers and get them to list their events on Gather Africa
Grow followers and engagement week by week
Reply to comments and messages so people feel heard
Use the existing Gather Africa brand templates so everything looks consistent
Always include the website link or QR code so people can find events on www.gather.africa

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

Qualifications & Experience:

Proven social media experience: you have grown or managed real accounts or pages before (share links and results)
Ability to shoot and edit short-form video (Reels, TikToks); shooting on a phone and editing in apps like CapCut is fine
Connections in the Kampala events, music and nightlife scene are nice to have
Basic design skills (e.g. Canva), copywriting in English plus Luganda or another local language, and experience running paid Facebook/Instagram ads are nice to have

Skills & Competencies:

Creative and hands-on content creator
Strong understanding of what young Ugandan event-goers care about and share
Self-driven and able to work independently
Good communication and community engagement skills
