About the Organisation
Uganda Free Zones and Export Promotions Authority (UFZEPA) is a statutory government agency established under the Free Zones (Amendment) Act No. 30 of 2024. Formed through the merger of the Uganda Free Zones Authority and the Uganda Export Promotion Board, UFZEPA operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives. The Authority is mandated to oversee the establishment, development, management, marketing, maintenance, supervision, and control of free zones, as well as the development, promotion, and coordination of all export-related activities in Uganda.
UFZEPA aims to stimulate foreign investment, enhance export competitiveness, create employment opportunities, and drive sustainable economic growth by providing a conducive environment for businesses. By integrating the functions of its predecessor agencies, UFZEPA streamlines processes, reduces bureaucratic hurdles, and offers incentives that position Uganda as an attractive hub for international trade and investment.

Job Description
Position: Senior Economist
Location: Kampala,Uganda
Job Summary: To study the production and distribution of resources, goods, and services by collecting and analyzing data, researching and evaluating trends of economic issues and recommending solutions in the Authority
Salary: UFZEPA - 4
Terms: Three (3) Year Contract (Renewable upon good performance)
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Research and analyze economic issues supporting fiscal and monetary policy management
Conduct surveys, collect data and prepare analytical reports for public interventions
Analyze data using mathematical models and statistical techniques
Prepare and submit reports, tables and charts presenting research results
Interpret and forecast market trends for products in the Authority
Conduct feasibility studies to determine project viability and set priorities
Identify, prepare, evaluate and monitor development projects and programs
Provide technical guidance on economic development topics in the Authority
Support policy design and recommendations to solve economic problems
Support project teams to increase technical rigor of deliverables

Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Economics or Statistics

Three (3) years’ experience at Economist level in Government or equivalent in a reputable organization
