About the Organisation
Bugema University is a private, co-educational institution of higher learning located in Kalagala, Luweero District, Uganda, approximately 33 kilometers northeast of Kampala. Established in 1948 as the Bugema Missionary Training School to train teachers and pastors for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in East Africa, it evolved into Bugema Missionary College and later Bugema Adventist College.
In 1994, it attained university status, and in 1997, it was licensed by the Uganda Ministry of Education and Sports to operate as a university. Affiliated with the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Bugema University is part of the global Seventh-day Adventist education system, the world's second-largest Christian school system.
The university offers a diverse range of academic programs across various disciplines, including Business Administration, Education, Theology and Religious Studies, Science and Technology, Agriculture and Applied Sciences, Health and Allied Sciences, and Social Sciences.
It provides undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs, some in collaboration with international institutions like the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton (Kenya), and Central Luzon State University (Philippines). Job Description
The Security Guard will be responsible for enforcing security measures, monitoring campus premises, and ensuring the overall safety of university personnel and property. Reporting directly to the Chief Security Guard, the successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate high integrity, discipline, and physical fitness. This role is based on a renewable one-year contract, subject to satisfactory performance. The guard may be deployed to any of the university’s campuses and is required to work in accordance with Bugema University’s values and security protocols.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Patrol university premises and monitor activities to prevent unauthorized access, theft, or damage.
Enforce university security rules and report any suspicious or irregular activities.
Ensure safety of students, staff, and visitors at all times.
Monitor entry and exit points and maintain a visitor log.
Cooperate with the Chief Security Guard and follow assigned shift schedules.
Provide immediate response to emergency situations and security incidents.
Submit regular reports on security activities.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Requirements:
Ugandan citizen with a valid National ID or official confirmation letter from NIRA.
Below 40 years of age.
Possession of at least a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with a pass in English or Mathematics.
Physically and medically fit, ready to work across campuses.
Ability to communicate clearly in written and spoken English.
Strong observational skills, attention to detail, and high emotional intelligence.
Must adhere to the norms and core values of Bugema University.
Added Advantage:
Formal training or qualification in security-related fields.
