Research and Evidence Specialist

• Participate in developing and implementing PEP project workplans focused on research, monitoring and evaluation
• Coordinate implementation across the three partner public universities to align with project goals and timelines
• Facilitate collaboration and communication between AMIU and partner institutions on research and evidence generation
• Support integration of research findings into project design and continuous improvement
• Liaise with regulatory bodies, academic institutions and stakeholders to support evidence informed training
• Coordinate the development and implementation of research protocols with project partners
• Contribute to grant writing and implementation of research activities
• Build capacity of faculty, graduate students and project staff in research methods, data analysis and evidence use
• Support partner institutions to establish and strengthen research systems and structures
• Provide technical guidance on education research, evaluation frameworks and data utilisation
• Promote use of digital tools and platforms for data collection, analysis and dissemination
• Support research integration into eLearning, simulation and blended learning
• Coordinate field research activities and develop budgets for research
• Engage stakeholders to promote evidence-based decision-making and maintain partnerships with universities and development partners

Qualifications & Experience:

• Master's degree in public health with a bias in biostatistics, epidemiology or statistics
• Bachelor's degree in health sciences, biostatistics, statistics, public health, mathematics or equivalent
• At least 2 years working in a busy research setting
• Publication of at least two articles in peer reviewed journals
• Experience in educational research is an added advantage

Skills & Competencies:

• Excellent written and presentation skills in English and Kiswahili
• Proficiency in data analysis using at least two of R, Stata and Epi Info, plus MS Office
• Budgeting skills
• Analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and in a multicultural team
• Strong ICT skills and attention to detail
