Position Overview
The Registration Assistant plays a vital role in supporting all registration-related activities, ensuring the accurate collection, recording, and management of refugee data. Reporting to a senior colleague within the registration team, this role involves direct interaction with asylum seekers and refugees, providing information on procedures, ensuring proper referrals, and maintaining data integrity.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Conduct registration interviews in line with UNHCR’s registration standards and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Provide clear information to asylum seekers and refugees on registration processes, rights, and entitlements.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for all individual registration cases.
Identify individuals with specific needs and coordinate timely referrals for protection or specialized services.
Collaborate with protection teams and partners to ensure effective service delivery.
Translate and interpret when needed, based on language competencies.
Refer individuals to appropriate departments or implementing partners for further assistance.
Support risk identification and mitigation in areas of responsibility.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education:
Completion of secondary education (High School Diploma) is required.
A university degree is an advantage.
Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in administrative or related work, preferably in refugee registration or data management.
Familiarity with UNHCR’s registration tools, including proGres, is desirable.
Skills:
Strong computer literacy and data entry skills.
Ability to work in a multicultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Languages:
Proficiency in English is required.
Knowledge of local languages spoken in Kiryandongo or among refugee communities is an asset.
