Job Description
The Quality Assurance Specialist will manage Quality and Food Safety (Q&FS) systems aligned with Mars QMS and FSSC 22000. Responsibilities include auditing, training, and improving quality assurance practices across SSA warehouses and distribution networks. The specialist will develop standards, verify compliance, oversee corrective actions, and support regulatory and audit requirements. This role also includes reporting metrics, implementing corporate standards, and working closely with third-party auditors to uphold product freshness and safety from factory to shelf.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Design, implement, and monitor Quality and Food Safety Management Systems in line with Mars QMS and FSSC 22000
Audit SSA market warehouses and distributors and drive continuous improvement
Provide training and guidance on Q&FS standards and corrective action follow-up
Define freshness measurement and reporting requirements
Collaborate with third-party auditors to maintain audit accuracy and standards
Ensure site compliance with food safety policies, HACCP, and Food Defense requirements
Report Q&FS metrics and support corporate policy adherence
Support regulatory affairs and issuance of product certifications for exports
Contribute to SSA site-wide food safety and internal/external audits
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum of a BSc in Science, Food Science, or a related field
3–5 years’ experience in food/pharmaceutical manufacturing with practical application of scientific principles
In-depth knowledge of QMS, food safety, food microbiology, HACCP, GMP, and GHP
Experience with auditing standards like FSSC 22000
Strong project management skills are an added advantage
Effective communicator and team player with strong attention to detail
