Reports to: Technician Maintenance (HVAC)
The Plant Operator II (Maintenance – HVAC) is responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems to ensure optimal temperature control, air quality, and energy efficiency within the plant facilities.

How to Apply
HVAC Systems Operation and Maintenance: Operate HVAC systems, including heating, cooling, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment, to maintain desired conditions. Perform routine maintenance, including cleaning filters, ducts, coils, and air handling units. Conduct periodic inspections to identify faults, leaks, or inefficiencies and address them promptly.
Troubleshooting and Repairs: Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC malfunctions such as airflow issues, refrigerant leaks, and equipment failures. Repair or replace faulty components, including compressors, motors, fans, thermostats, and controls. Ensure systems are calibrated for efficient and consistent performance.
Preventive Maintenance: Implement preventive maintenance schedules to extend equipment lifespan and reduce breakdowns. Monitor HVAC performance metrics, such as temperature, pressure, and energy consumption, to detect anomalies.
Energy Efficiency Management: Monitor energy consumption of HVAC systems and recommend improvements to enhance energy efficiency. Ensure systems are operating at optimal load capacity to reduce energy wastage.
Safety and Compliance: Follow safety standards and procedures when working with HVAC systems, refrigerants, and associated equipment. Adhere to environmental regulations related to the handling and disposal of refrigerants and other materials. Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during maintenance activities.
Collaboration and Support: Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and civil maintenance teams to ensure plant infrastructure reliability. Assist external technicians or contractors during major repairs or system upgrades.
Installation of HVAC systems: Assist in the installation, commissioning, and testing of new HVAC systems. Also ensure proper alignment, configuration and functionality of HVAC systems during and after installation.
Any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor:
Education Background
Certificate Level II in Air Conditioning and refrigeration, Electrical or a related field
Experience
At least two (2) years of experience in HVAC systems operation, maintenance, or repairs in an industrial, commercial, or manufacturing setting.
Skills
Proficiency in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining HVAC systems and related components.
Knowledge of refrigeration cycles, air handling units, and duct systems.
Ability to identify and address energy efficiency issues in HVAC operation
Competence in using HVAC tools, gauges, and diagnostic equipment.
Basic computer skills/knowledge.
Preferred Skills
Understanding of building automation systems (BAS) and HVAC controls.
Experience with various refrigerants and adherence to environmental guidelines.
Ability to read and interpret HVAC blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
