• Fabricating, edging, mounting, and inspecting prescription spectacle lenses.
• Interpreting optical prescriptions provided by ophthalmologists and optometrists.
• Assisting patients in selecting suitable spectacle frames and lens options based on needs.
• Taking accurate facial measurements, pupil distance (PD), and fitting height dimensions.
• Performing routine maintenance, calibration, and repair of optical workshop machinery.
• Managing optical stock inventory, frame orders, and lens supply reconciliations.
• Educating patients on proper spectacle care, contact lens hygiene, and visual ergonomics.
• Maintaining accurate patient optical records and billing transactions in the hospital system.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Diploma in Ophthalmic Optical Technology or Optical Technology from a recognized institution.
• Registration with the relevant medical licensing body in Kenya where applicable.
• Minimum of two (2) years of working experience as an Optical Technician in a hospital or clinic.
• Certification in optical edging machinery operation is an added advantage.

Skills & Competencies:

• Proficiency in operating lens edging machines, lensometers, and optical tools.
• Precision accuracy in lens mounting, frame alignment, and optical fitting.
• Strong patient care skills and empathetic communication.
• Good inventory management and record-keeping discipline.
• Basic computer literacy for processing hospital system orders.
