Job Description

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

To undertake legal measures and activities to promote compliance by the operators to the prevailing laws and regulations.

  • To carry out investigations in respect of cases of anti-regulatory conduct. This will include interviewing witnesses and perpetrators, observing, investigating, gathering evidence, taking formal witness statements, and liaising with the Enforcement Team and agreeing appropriate action.

  • Create and manage effective action plans in response to audit discoveries and compliance violations

  • Implement and manage an effective routine legal compliance monitoring program.

  • To support the legal process in the preparation for cases going to Court and giving evidence in Court.

  • Participate in litigation of communications offences.

  • To investigate any complaint/accusation regarding a licensed operator and follow up with the Operator if necessary while making sure all parties and departments involved are kept up-to-date on the status of any issues;

  • To provide legal advice and enforcement action in respect of debt collection together with the relevant units in the Finance Department.

  • To provide input into proposed regulatory frameworks and Guidelines as deemed necessary for the effective regulation of the sector

• A Bachelor’s degree in Laws;

• A Post Graduate Diploma in legal practice from the Law Development Centre;

• Enrolled as an advocate of the High Court of Uganda.


Working Experience

  • At least Two (2) years of relevant working experience in a similar corporate setting.

  • Experience in litigation and criminal prosecution will be an added advantage.
