About the Organisation
Uganda Free Zones and Export Promotions Authority (UFZEPA) is a statutory government agency established under the Free Zones (Amendment) Act No. 30 of 2024. Formed through the merger of the Uganda Free Zones Authority and the Uganda Export Promotion Board, UFZEPA operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives. The Authority is mandated to oversee the establishment, development, management, marketing, maintenance, supervision, and control of free zones, as well as the development, promotion, and coordination of all export-related activities in Uganda.
UFZEPA aims to stimulate foreign investment, enhance export competitiveness, create employment opportunities, and drive sustainable economic growth by providing a conducive environment for businesses. Job Description
Position: Manager Customs Supervision and Control
Location: Kampala,Uganda
Job Summary: To provide technical guidance and support on the administrative and regulatory management of the Special Economic Zones
Salary: UFZEPA - 3
Terms: Three (3) Year Contract (Renewable upon good performance)
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Liaise with Uganda Revenue Authority to facilitate Customs rules for utilization of SEZs
Facilitate proper Customs management and administration in SEZs during import and export of goods and services
Liaise with URA to approve enclosures to separate designated Customs Areas within customs territory for efficient SEZ operations
Liaise with URA to declare Customs areas within SEZs
Provide technical advice on customs infrastructure to prevent contraband use in SEZs and ensure market access requirements are met
Coordinate regular Customs Compliance visits in planned and operational SEZs with URA
Enforce compliance with Customs requirements to prevent unauthorized use of SEZs
Coordinate development of SEZs and maintain registers/records of all goods imported, warehoused, produced and disposed as required
Provide technical guidance on the free zones module on the Uganda Electronic Single Window
Qualifications, Education and Competencies

a) Academic Qualifications
Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Business Administration, Marketing, Commerce or International Trade
Master’s Degree in Economics, Business Administration, Marketing, Commerce or International Trade
b) Work Experience
At least 9 years’ experience, 3 of which at senior officer level in Government or a reputable organization
