The Resident Teacher will deliver Cambridge Year 7-9 English and Literature instruction at Nova Pioneer's Athi River International campus, planning lessons according to the curriculum and preparing learners for Year 9 Checkpoint and Year 11 IGCSE examinations.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable
Plan and execute appropriate activities for the children each day according to the curriculum, schemes of work and lesson plans
Develop, review and update schemes of work and lesson plans in line with the school curriculum
Set assessments for subject areas and topics when requested
Instruct students individually and in groups, adapting teaching methods to meet students' varying needs and interests
Observe and evaluate each child's progress and provide written reports to school leaders and parents
Establish and enforce rules for behaviour and procedures to maintain order among students
Plan and supervise class projects, field trips and other experiential activities
Attend professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

Qualifications & Experience:

TSC (Teachers Service Commission) certificate
A relevant degree in Education / P1 Diploma / P1 Certificate
3+ years of teaching experience
Previous training, qualification or experience in teaching the Cambridge curriculum is an added advantage

Skills & Competencies:

Experience preparing learners for Year 9 Checkpoint and Year 11 IGCSE exams is an added advantage
Good working skills with technology such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel
A great communicator with clear and effective written and verbal communication
Flexible and open to change; a proactive problem solver
Background as a Cambridge Examiner is highly advantageous
