Job Description
Job Title: IT Architect
Organisation: Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL)
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
To design, implement and optimize the organization’s IT architecture and ensure alignment with business goals, scalability and security. The IT Architect is responsible for creating robust and innovative solutions that support UEDCL’s operational and strategic objectives.
Impact: The role holder is responsible for ensuring that IT systems and infrastructure are aligned, secure and capable of supporting UEDCL’s processes and services. The role holder provides the foundation for innovation, system integration and future-proofing UEDCL’s ICT capabilities.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Maintenance of UEDCL’s IT architecture frameworks and blueprints that support business operations and scaling if any
Seamless integration of hardware, software and network solutions to ensure interoperability and efficiency
Recommend and implement modern technologies to enhance performance, reduce costs, and ensure security
Implementation of secure architectural designs to mitigate risks and comply with regulatory and industry standards
Document IT architecture, processes, and system configurations for reference and compliance with the highest level of detail
Communicate with ICT and non-ICT teams to gather requirements and ensure alignment between technical solutions and business needs.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field
Certifications such as TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert are strongly preferred.
Experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT architecture, system design, and implementation.
Proven experience with enterprise IT systems, cloud solutions, and network design.
Familiarity with IT governance frameworks and regulatory requirements in the electricity or utility sector is an advantage.
Competencies
In-depth knowledge of IT infrastructure, cloud computing, and system integration
Proficiency in architecture modeling tools and frameworks
Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices
Ability to analyze business needs and translate them into technical solutions
Capability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Skilled in managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and ensuring successful implementation
Openness to adopting new technologies and designing future-ready solutions
