Job Description
Job Title: Internal Auditor – Safety and Compliance
Organisation: Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL)
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
To assess and advise on compliance with safety standards, policies, laws and regulations within UEDCL’s operations, mitigating risks and enhancing adherence to statutory and internal safety frameworks.
Impact: The job holder is responsible for assessing UEDCL’s operations comply with safety and regulatory requirements, minimizing risks and enhancing workplace safety and operational efficiency.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Compliance Audits, conduct audits to evaluate adherence to safety policies and statutory requirements.
Risk Assessment, Identify, evaluate, and report safety and compliance risks within operations.
Policy Review, ensure company safety and compliance policies align with national and international standards.
Monitoring and reporting, provide regular reports on safety and compliance issues, including corrective actions taken.
Training and Awareness, Support the development of safety awareness programs and training initiatives.
Incident Investigations, assist in investigating safety-related incidents and recommending preventive measures.
Expected Outputs
Comprehensive safety and compliance audit reports.
Identification and mitigation of safety risks.
Recommendations to improve compliance and safety standards.
Enhanced safety awareness across the company.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, occupational health and safety, Risk Management, Business Administration, Statistics, or a related field or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in safety and compliance auditing or a related role.
Operation Regulation of High Voltage Systems (ORHVS), NEBOSH or safety related training is an added advantage.
Competencies:
Strong knowledge of safety standards, regulations, and audit processes.
Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent report writing and communication skills.
Proficiency in auditing tools and techniques.
