The Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) Limited was established under the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production) Act and the Petroleum (Refining, Conversion, Transmission and Midstream storage) Act, both of 2013 and incorporated under the Companies' Act, 2012. It is a limited liability company wholly owned by the Government of Uganda.

The overall function of UNOC is to handle the State's commercial interests in the Oil and Gas industry and en- sure that the resource is exploited in a sustainable manner.

UNOC is offering Graduate Internship opportunities for a maximum of six (6) months - non-renewable contract to recent graduates interested in starting a career in an Oil and Gas industry.

  • External Communications: Managing external communications with stakeholders such as the media, investors, customers, government agencies, and the public. This involves drafting press releases, managing media relations, and representing the company in public forums.

  • Investor Relations: Building and maintaining relationships with investors and analysts. This includes communicating financial performance, organizing investor meetings, responding to investor inquiries, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements related to financial reporting and disclosure.

  • Government Relations: Engaging with government agencies, policymakers, and regulatory bodies to advocate for the company's interests and influence public policy decisions. This may involve lobbying, monitoring legislative developments, and participating in industry associations.

  • Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR): Developing and implementing corporate social responsibility initiatives that align with the company's values and objectives. This may include philanthropy, community engagement, environmental sustainability programs, and ethical business practices.

  • Crisis Management: Developing crisis management plans and protocols to respond effectively to emergencies, disasters, or reputational crises that may arise. This includes coordinating communication strategies, managing stakeholders' expectations, and preserving the company's reputation.

  • Internal Communications: Managing internal communications to ensure that employees are informed about company policies, initiatives, and developments. This may involve producing newsletters, organizing town hall meetings, and maintaining intranet platforms.

  • Brand Management: Protecting and enhancing the company's brand reputation through strategic brand management initiatives. This includes developing brand messaging, overseeing advertising campaigns, and monitoring brand perception in the market.

  • Corporate Governance: Ensuring compliance with corporate governance principles, regulations, and best practices. This may involve supporting the board of directors, facilitating board meetings, and maintaining corporate records.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Identifying key stakeholders and developing strategies to engage and build relationships with them. This includes understanding stakeholders' interests, concerns, and expectations and incorporating their feedback into decision-making processes.

  • Sustainability Reporting: Managing the company's sustainability reporting efforts, including collecting data, preparing sustainability reports, and communicating the company's environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance to stakeholders.

  • Event Management: Organizing corporate events, conferences, and sponsorships to promote the company's brand and engage stakeholders. This may include coordinating logistics, managing budgets, and ensuring a positive experience for attendees.

  • Bachelor’s Degree(Hons) in Mass Communication, Marketing, Public Relations or any other related field


Key Requirements

  • Must provide a copy of University Degree Transcript obtained from a recognized University i.e. (Bachelor's Degree).

  • Must have a minimum of a 2nd class upper degree, with a minimum CGPA of 4.0.

  • Must have scored a minimum of a Credit in Mathematics and English subjects at Ordinary Level (O' level).

  • Must have graduated not more than three years from the time of applying for this opportunity.

  • Excellent communication skills
