Uganda National Oil Company - UNOC was incorporated as a limited liability company wholly owned by the Government of Uganda in June 2015. Our overall function is to handle the Government of Uganda’s commercial interests in the petroleum sub-sector and to ensure State participation in petroleum activities. The company is also mandated to investigate and propose new upstream, midstream, and downstream ventures initially locally and eventually internationally.

Job Description
DEPARTMENT: Operations
JOB TITLE: Graduate Civil and Building Engineer (1 Vacancy)
REPORTS TO: Civil Engineer
JOB PURPOSE : Provide civil engineering support for all UNOC-operated and non-operated projects under the supervision of the Civil Engineer or a Registered Engineer.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Assist in the civil engineering design process by contributing to the preparation of designs and drawings.
Support the collection and documentation of primary data.
Assist in the preparation of scope of works, specifications, bills of quantities, and tender documents.
Support construction management and supervision by acting as Site Representative when required.
Participate in the preparation of technical proposals.
Engage in field engineering activities and gather data to address operational challenges.
Perform additional tasks as reasonably assigned within the job role.
Undertake other duties as directed by the supervisor(s).

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
A Bachelor's degree (Hons) in Civil and Building Engineering or a related field from a recognized university.
A maximum of 3 years of relevant work experience, with no more than three years since graduation.
Membership in a professional engineering body (e.g., UIPE – Graduate Membership) is an added advantage.
Experience in oil and gas, energy, or industrial projects is a plus.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
Ability to interpret engineering designs.
Knowledge of civil and building engineering standards.
Familiarity with petrochemical industry HSSE standards.
Understanding of the oil & gas industry value chain.
Ability to perform preliminary engineering calculations, including earthworks, foundations, drainage, and concrete and steel design. Proficient in interpreting site plans, bills of quantities, and structural drawings.
Knowledge of civil/structural engineering software, e.g., AutoCAD.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Willingness to travel for work-related assignments.
