Job Description
The finance Officer will work with the finance team and project teams to implement the organizational strategy, along with the mission and vision of Swisscontact in Uganda, to meet departmental objectives.
S/he The Finance officer will be responsible for setting up and overseeing all financial book keeping of the project. S/he will ensure adherence to financial and administrative regulations and standards procedures as well as the exchange of financial and administrative information between project staff, partners, and other relevant institutions.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
• Ensure the application of proper accounting internal control systems and processes to facilitate
• financial monitoring and control in line with our internal guidelines as well as the donors for accurate financial reporting and auditing.
• Ensure Proper management of treasury functions of the project (accounts, Cheque and cash management);
• Assist in the preparation of Operating Budgets
• Support in tracking project expenditures to ensure they are within budget
• Ensure that all support documents in respect to financial transactions are adequately authorized and with the correct information.
• Ensure overall preparation of the project accounting ledgers and accounts are in accordance with International Best practices and standards.
• Support in the preparation of the periodic financial reports, as per Swisscontact and donor guidelines
• Ensure proper filing and record keeping of all financial documents
• Assist with audit preparations, and support during the audit process
• Ensure compliance with the statutory remittances.
• Prepare funder reports under the guidance of the Finance manager.
• Prepare contracts and MoUs on behalf of the project.
• Ensure correct and updated maintenance of an assets register of all project property.
• Work closely with the admin & procurement team to verify that purchases are within the project’s financial scope
• Carry out any other tasks as may be assigned by Management.
