Job Description
The Enrolled Midwife is responsible for delivering quality midwifery services following established medical standards and protocols. The role includes supporting antenatal and postnatal care, assisting in deliveries, conducting family planning counseling, supporting immunization programs, managing minor obstetric complications, and collaborating with clinicians to address maternal and newborn health needs. The position requires professionalism, ethical conduct, attention to hygiene and infection control, and accurate medical documentation.

How to Apply
Provide comprehensive maternal and child health services during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum periods
Assist the Registered Midwife with deliveries, prepare birth records, and monitor mother and newborn health
Offer counseling on breastfeeding, baby hygiene, and postpartum care
Participate in health education, family planning, HIV counseling and testing (HCT), and nutrition programs
Provide primary care to women of reproductive age per national standards
Administer non-surgical family planning methods and counsel on surgical options
Ensure immunization of newborns according to schedule
Support the management of cases involving sexual violence
Monitor drug and equipment usage and alert supervisor for restocking
Maintain and clean biomedical equipment, reporting any malfunctions
Ensure compliance with hygiene, sterilization, and infection prevention standards
Uphold MTI’s Code of Conduct and ensure ethical medical practice
Accurately collect and submit medical data and reports
Perform other duties as assigned
Education & Certification:
Certificate in Midwifery from a recognized institution (Required)
Registered with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council (Required)
Valid practicing license (Required)
Experience:
At least 6 months of hands-on experience in midwifery (Required)
Experience with international NGOs (Advantageous)
Knowledge:
Principles and procedures of professional midwifery
Medical and non-medical waste management
Hygiene and infection prevention and control (IPC)
Skills:
Skilled in clinical midwifery procedures and evaluations
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Proficient in English (spoken and written)
Abilities:
Maintain confidentiality and ethical medical standards
Show respect and fairness to patients and staff
Provide compassionate, patient-centered care
Accurately document patient records
Adapt to remote, basic living and working conditions
Uphold MTI values and Code of Conduct
