Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of international environmental law programmes
- Provide strategic and legal advisory leadership on international environmental law
- Manage financial and human resources and programme delivery
- Represent UNEP in intergovernmental and international fora
- Guide and mentor professional staff
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Qualifications & Experience:
- Advanced university degree (Master's or Doctorate) in international law, international environmental law or related fields
- A minimum of fifteen (15) years of progressively responsible experience in the development and implementation of international law, with proven experience in international environmental law
- At least five (5) years at the international level, including at the UN or a similar international organization
Skills & Competencies:
- Strategic leadership and managerial ability
- Strong analytical, negotiating and communication skills
- Fluency in English; knowledge of another UN official language desirable
