The Declarations Officer facilitates the smooth movement of goods across international borders by preparing declarations and ensuring compliance with customs regulations.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

Prepare and process customs declarations for exports, imports and transshipments
Ensure compliance with customs regulations and guidelines
Lodge declarations in the customs system and follow up on clearance
Maintain accurate records of declarations and supporting documents
Liaise with clients, customs officials and internal teams on clearance matters

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

Relevant qualifications in clearing and forwarding, logistics or business
East African Customs and Freight Forwarding Practicing Certificate (EACFFPC) is mandatory
Knowledge of customs declaration procedures
Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
Good communication and follow-up skills
